Biography

A belief of "I can…" is incredibly powerful. It forms the foundation of any empowering action and opens up doors of possibilities where ever you look. A belief of "I can…" will support you even when you think you can't. Have you even done something even though you thought you would not be able to?

Robin attended Western Province Boys' Junior School and Rondebosch Boys' High School. After completing high school, Robin was selected as a Rotary Exchange Student and went to live in Argentina for a year. He further spent 14 months in Italy and traveled around Europe gathering experiences and insights into different people, their communication styles and their cultures. On returning to South Africa, he completed his Psychology degree at UCT while being enrolled at the Mowbray Teaching College of Education.

As an educator Robin says, "Imagine children could grow up with a belief of "I can…" as a natural part of their development. Empowered children become empowered adults." During this time Robin designed and ran various workshops around schools in the Cape Peninsula with the favourites being 'The Nurturing of self esteem', 'Alternatives to punishment' and 'Saying sorry is not enough'.

Robin believes that to support other people in achieving their dreams, we need to be actively pursuing our own. In the year 2000, Robin had the opportunity to stop teaching for a while so that he could build his own house. He reflects, "I thought I would just do the creative side of the building; the mosaics and maybe the furniture. I did not think I was able to actually take on the whole project managing let alone the technical building part as well."
