When you find yourself saying anything in the negative, search for what you are actually wanting them to do.
It is easier for us to focus on what we need to do, than to focus on what we are not supposed to be doing.
Here are some examples of everyday situations that are taken from our workshop session on the 'Alternatvies to saying NO'.

|Don’t run inside.||We walk inside|
|Don’t throw balls inside.||We hold balls inside. Throwing balls is for outside.|
|Don’t splash water in the bath.||Water needs to stay in the bath.|
|Don’t tell lies.||We tell the truth. We are honest with each other|
|Don’t hit your brother.||We treat each other respectfully|
|Don’t rock your chair.||Chairs need to stay firm on the ground.|
|Don’t swear at me.||We say respectful words to each other.|
|Don’t shout.||Inside voices please.|
|Don’t smack the dog.||We treat dogs respectfully.|
